The problem was that the pipes had become blocked because the existing installation of another party was not working properly, as a result of which the cows received insufficient water and of poor quality. Summit installed a new installation and cleaned the pipes. Now, the animals have sufficient drinking water again and of high quality. This has had an immediate effect on the performance. Fertility has improved, the somatic cell count has gone down and milk production has increased.
Clean, healthy, and tasty drinking water increases the water consumption of cows; for every 4 litres of extra water consumption, milk production increases by 1 litre.
